About Zing!
Zing! creates high-energy, inclusive experiences that help kids feel amaZING through movement, mindset, and play. Our classes combine fitness, athletic skills, imaginative play, and music to help kids grow stronger and more confident while having a blast. At our Upper East Side Studio, we provide a personalization approach in a small group setting.
The Role
We're looking for 2 HIGH-ENERGY ROCKSTARS who know fitness and movement, can put on a mic, and can command a room full of kids ages 2–7+. This is a performance-driven fitness role. You'll set the tone, bring the energy, and make every child feel seen and successful while keeping class structured and safe.
Our Ideal Candidate
You have a background in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, education or a related field, and you're a fit pro or an aspiring one. You're also theatrical, playful, totally comfortable on a mic and a natural “child whisperer”.
Please note: we prefer fitness/movement pro’s over dancers, yogi’s, etc. If you are a dancer, we’ll review your application, but please note that is NOT our preference at the moment.
Responsibilities
Lead high-energy, age-appropriate fitness classes for kids ages 1.5-9 yrs
Command the room on the mic with clear instructions and strong demonstrations
Follow Zing! class formats, safety standards, and teaching protocols
Adapt activities to children's ages, abilities, and attention spans
Teach weekly classes, plus birthday parties, camps, and events as scheduled
Connect warmly and professionally with parents and caregivers
Set up, clean, and reset the studio and equipment before and after programming
Communicate schedule updates, feedback, and safety concerns promptly
Support community marketing, including social media content and flyers
Take initiative and step in without waiting to be asked
Qualifications
MUST have an inclusive, warm & welcoming approach to movement - we welcome all bodies, abilities and ways of thinking.
A degree or coursework in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or a related field is strongly preferred (college students & recent grads encouraged!!)
Group fitness, personal training, youth fitness, or coaching certifications are strongly preferred
Experience leading group fitness classes, coaching youth sports, or running movement programs
Experience with toddlers and preschoolers is strongly preferred
Knowledge of body mechanics and age-appropriate exercise
Theatrical, outgoing, and comfortable leading groups on a mic
Reliable, punctual, organized, and flexible
Physically able to demonstrate exercises and stay active throughout classes
CPR/AED certification is preferred, or it must be obtained within an agreed-upon timeframe
MUST be extremely well organized to manage our schedules and an excellent communicator (phone, slack, email, etc.)
Availability (Please Read Before Applying)
You must be available:
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoons, 2:30–5:30/6:00 PM (Monday and Friday only will be considered)
Weekly through the school year. We understand holidays and travel come up!
Weekends for birthday parties as needed
It's a bonus if you're also available:
Wednesday mornings and/or afternoons
Select weekends for birthday parties and events
Mornings for subbing
If you can't commit to the required days through the school year, please do not apply. If you can do 2 of the 3 days, please let us know. Only candidates who can commit will be invited to audition.
Compensation and Hours
Most instructors start at $27–30/hour, and higher rates are available for exceptional experience, specialized credentials, or leadership responsibilities. Hours depend on business needs, availability, and performance. Instructors who consistently bring great energy and reliability get first priority for additional classes.
