Zing! for Kids is currently looking for ROCKSTAR Kids Fitness Teaching/Event Assistants to join the crew. In this role, you will wear several hats to ensure a positive, safe & fun movement experience. During our Fit Classes, you'll support the Lead Instructor with the daily curriculum and guiding the students through the activity. During our Events & Parties, you'll support the Event Leads & Supervisors by engaging with the event and party guests. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up for the events/parties, guiding the kids in the activities/obstacle courses, working our booth with games like spin-the-wheel, helping to set up, serve refreshments & food, and clean up for birthday parties, and more. Further, Zing! for Kids is opening a studio in Spring 2025, which may yield further opportunities for the right candidate. This is an incredible work and learning opportunity for someone who has big energy, enjoys exercise & being active, and loves children of all ages!

For Spring & Summer 2025, we have openings on select week days from 8AM-2PM, afterschool hours from 2:30-5PM, and select weekends typically from 10AM-4PM. Most shifts are 2-3 hours, but select classes are longer/shorter. Programs run in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. You must be able to access sites through public transportation/your own mode of transportation, etc.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Have worked with kids (ideally 2.5-10 yrs) for at least 2 years

As the Teaching/Event Assistant, you will have an essential role in our ability to deliver stellar programs to the children in our communities. You will gain hands-on experience teaching fitness to children, creating a positive & safe environment for children, managing a class of students with confidence and care, working alongside our Lead Coaches and School Administration, and much more. PLUS, our programs are FUN. Pay is based on scope of work and experience and ranges from $20-25/hour. There is plenty of room for growth!

You must be willing to go through training, a backround check, and any other fingerprinting/medical clearances required by our site.

Qualifications:

  • Current Youth CPR/AED and Personal Liability Insurance (you can get this during training period)

  • BONUS if you have a strong knowledge of exercise, sport, movement & dance

  • Preference given to those with teaching/classroom management experience

  • Basic understanding of how to communicate with children

  • Experience working with preschool age children is a plus

  • Willing to go through background check & get fingerprinted for certain sites

  • MUST BE HIGH ENERGY & ENGAGING! YOU NEED TO BRING “IT”

  • Must love working with children & care about their wellbeing <3

  • MUST be extremely responsible, loyal & PUNCTUAL -- we are working with children

  • Excellent communication & customer service skills

  • MUST be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 unless they are exempt for medical/religious reasons and follow all Covid-19 protocols set in place

  • Preference is given to those with certifications & extensive experience in group fitness, strong background working with children, and/or have performed for children/families.

  • MUST be a “figure-outter”, self-starter, able to learn on-the-go, and EXCITED to bring positive energy & proud smiles to children.

  • MUST have a flexible schedule.

Your responsibilities will vary depending on the type of program/school. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up & cleaning up the activity space (equipment placement, etc.) before & after the designated session/period.

  • Serving snacks/refreshments for sites/parties

  • Bringing BIG energy to our events! HYPE UP THE KIDS!

  • Greeting students, taking attendance/tracking number of students in & out of each session, and supervising transitions between sessions/periods if needed.

  • Leading/directing & pacing students in movement activities

  • Supporting the Lead Coach in the Zing! activities to enhance a higher level of classroom management, engagement, safety, and fun!

  • Maintain honest, open communication with your coaches, on-site directors/administration, managers, and other staff members.

  • Ensure maximum safety of students at all times during all activities and support occasional emergencies that might arise.

  • Be able to relate to students and make them feel comfortable.

  • Have a strong understanding of the material we are teaching our students.

  • Be on time for every class.

  • Be able to communicate with students and faculty in an open and clear way.

  • Follow site rules and communicate them to students and teammates

  • Guide students through fitness obstacle course

Preferences are given to those who have/are working towards a degree in education/teaching administration, are certified fitness professionals (or studying to become certified), have worked for school enrichment sports/dance/movement programs, and to those who can command/lead a room with professionalism & responsibility. We also give preference to those who have experience with sports groups, theater groups, fitness groups, and all child-related group activities.
