About Zing!
Zing! creates high-energy, inclusive experiences that help kids feel amaZING through movement, mindset, and play. Our classes combine fitness, imaginative play, athletic skills, music, and confidence-building activities to help children grow stronger while having an absolute blast!
The Role
We’re looking for a HIGH-ENERGY ROCKSTAR who can command a room, connect with children and caregivers, and confidently lead fun, engaging fitness experiences—both on and off the mic.
This is a performance-driven role. Our instructors set the tone, bring the energy, and make every child feel seen, successful, and excited to move. You should be able to walk into a room, take ownership, and keep children engaged while maintaining clear structure and safety.
Most classes serve children ages 1.5–6, so experience with toddlers and preschoolers is especially important. However, Zing! also offers camps, birthday parties, school programs, and classes for children up to age 12. Candidates should have experience with—or a strong desire to learn how to teach—multiple age groups.
This position also includes supporting the care and growth of our studio. Instructors help set up and clean the space, organize equipment, communicate with the team, connect with families, and occasionally assist with social media and community outreach.
Consistent instructors who bring exceptional energy, reliability, initiative, and availability will be prioritized for additional classes and opportunities.
Responsibilities
Lead high-energy, age-appropriate fitness classes for toddlers and preschoolers, with opportunities to teach children up to age 12
Command the room with confidence, enthusiasm, clear instructions, and strong demonstrations
Create a structured, positive environment that encourages movement, teamwork, confidence, and fun
Follow Zing! class formats, safety standards, brand guidelines, and teaching protocols
Learn and help develop creative activities that combine functional fitness, athletic skills, imaginative play, dance, yoga, and other movement disciplines
Modify activities based on children’s ages, abilities, attention spans, and individual needs
Teach weekly morning classes, high-energy birthday parties, camps, afternoon programs, and special events
Travel to select schools, community programs, and off-site birthday parties as needed
Communicate warmly and professionally with parents and caregivers about their child’s experience and relevant Zing! offerings
Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to bring exceptional energy to every shift
Set up and reset the studio for classes, camps, parties, and events
Help clean and maintain the studio before and after programming
Organize, inspect, and properly store fitness equipment and supplies
Communicate schedule updates, class feedback, safety concerns, and operational needs promptly and thoroughly
Support community marketing efforts, including capturing social media content, distributing flyers, and promoting upcoming programs
Proactively identify what needs to be done and step in without waiting to be asked
Qualifications
Group fitness, personal training, youth fitness, sports coaching, or related certifications are strongly preferred
A degree or coursework in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, child development, education, or a related field is preferred
Previous experience leading group fitness classes, coaching youth sports, teaching dance or gymnastics, or facilitating other movement-based programs
Experience working with toddlers and preschoolers is strongly preferred
A genuine love of working with children and helping them feel confident, capable, and successful
A high-energy, outgoing personality with the ability to engage children and command a room
Strong teaching skills and a willingness to learn and follow the Zing! method
Knowledge of child development, anatomy, physiology, body mechanics, and age-appropriate exercise techniques
Excellent communication skills with children, caregivers, and team members
Reliable, punctual, organized, and comfortable working independently
Proactive, flexible, and able to pivot quickly when a class or activity does not go according to plan
Comfortable speaking on a microphone and leading groups in a lively boutique fitness environment
Physically able to demonstrate exercises and remain active throughout classes, parties, and events
CPR/AED certification is strongly preferred or must be obtained within an agreed-upon timeframe
Availability Requirements
Candidates must generally be available:
Approximately 9:00 AM–1:00 PM on 2–3 weekdays
Saturdays
For occasional afternoon classes, camps, birthday parties, school programs, and community events as availability allows
Compensation and Hours
Compensation is $27–$35 per hour, based on relevant experience, education, certifications, leadership responsibilities, and demonstrated teaching ability.
Most instructors will begin within the $27–$30 per hour range, with higher rates available for candidates with exceptional experience, specialized credentials, and the ability to take on advanced teaching or leadership responsibilities.
The number of hours offered will depend on business needs, availability, reliability, versatility, and performance. Instructors who consistently bring outstanding energy, connect with families, take initiative, and deliver exceptional classes will be considered first for additional hours and opportunities.
